110 Linear Feet of Porcelain Pool Tile Restored in Rancho Vistoso
Oro Valley, Az
This beautiful Oro Valley pool featured approximately 110 linear feet of rustic blue porcelain tile, along with small square mosaic tile on the hot tub spillway. After four to five years of exposure to Southern Arizona’s hard water, a noticeable layer of calcium and mineral buildup had developed along the waterline and surrounding tile.
Tim used our low-pressure Kieserite blasting process to carefully remove years of stubborn calcium buildup from the porcelain tile and detailed mosaic spillway. The goal was to remove the hard-water deposits while protecting the tile surface and grout underneath.
The transformation brought the rich blue tones of the porcelain tile back to life and gave the entire pool and spa area a noticeably cleaner, refreshed appearance—all without the need for harsh chemicals or aggressive abrasive methods.

Heavy Calcium Removal from Pool Tile & Cascade in the Palisades Neighborhood
Oro Valley, Az
This beautiful pool in the Palisades neighborhood of Oro Valley features a Versailles mosaic tile pattern that continues across an eye-catching cascade waterfall. After approximately three to four years of Southern Arizona hard-water exposure, heavy calcium buildup had accumulated across the tile—especially on the cascade, where constant water flow had left thick mineral deposits covering much of the original finish.
The calcium wasn't just noticeable along the waterline; it was taking away from the entire aesthetic of a beautiful architectural feature.
Tim carefully cleaned the pool tile and cascade using our low-pressure Kieserite blasting process, removing years of stubborn calcium and hard-water buildup while protecting the tile and grout underneath.
The difference was dramatic. With the heavy white mineral deposits removed, the colors and pattern of the Versailles mosaic tile could be seen again, and the cascade became a focal point of the backyard instead of being hidden beneath calcium buildup.
The tile looks like new again—and the beautiful cascade finally looks the way it was intended to.

Pool Tile Cleaning & Full Drain
Oro Valley, Az
This Oro Valley project included a complete pool drain and professional cleaning of approximately 82 linear feet of pool tile, along with the hot tub and flow way. Years of hard-water exposure had left calcium and mineral buildup along the waterline and water features, leaving the pool ready for a much-needed refresh.
With Southern Arizona temperatures cool enough for pool-draining season, Tim handled the project from start to finish—including the full drain and our low-pressure Kieserite blasting process to remove the stubborn calcium buildup from the tile.
As with every True Grit project, Tim performs the work himself rather than sending out a separate crew. He walked the homeowners through each step of the process, answered their questions along the way, and completed the project on schedule. Once the cleaning was finished, the work area was thoroughly cleaned and everything was left in its place.
The result was a completely refreshed pool with a clean waterline, restored hot tub and flow way, and tile that looked new again.
What the Homeowners Had to Say
“The full drain and tile blasting began and ended on-time. Tim is knowledgeable and communicated each step, answering any questions we had along the way. He is friendly and easy to work with. Tim performs the work himself and doesn’t send a crew so nothing gets lost in translation. All clean up was completed and nothing left out of place when the project was done. The full drain and blasting was an easy process completed without delays. We would highly recommend Tim and Holly Moore, True Grit Blasting Company. The pool is refreshed and the tile looks new again.”

Third Year True Grit Customer
Tortolita, NW Oro Valley, Az
82 Linear Feet of Pool Tile & Double Spillway — A Third-Year True Grit Customer
Some of our favorite projects are the pools we get to come back to year after year.
This Oro Valley pool features approximately **82 linear feet of pool tile along with a beautiful double spillway**. The homeowners use well water containing silica, which creates particularly stubborn mineral buildup along the waterline and spillways and can be much more difficult to remove than the typical calcium deposits we encounter throughout Southern Arizona.
For the **third year in a row**, these homeowners called True Grit to restore their pool tile. Tim carefully cleaned the entire 82-foot waterline and both spillways, removing the accumulated hard-water deposits and bringing the tile back to its original appearance.
The result was another dramatic refresh—**clean waterlines, restored spillways, and tile that looks new again.**
Even better than the before-and-after? Having an Oro Valley homeowner trust us with their pool year after year.
What the Homeowner Had to Say
“Always great work. Third year using True Grit and very satisfied. We have silica in our well water and it’s much tougher to get off than calcium. Tile looks new.”

Heavy Hard Water Calcium Build-Up
Rancho Vistoso, Oro Valley, Az
This Rancho Vistoso pool in Oro Valley is a great example of just how much of a difference professional pool tile cleaning can make.
Approximately 90 linear feet of pool tile, along with the hot tub and spillway, had developed heavy hard-water calcium buildup. The white mineral deposits had become especially noticeable along the waterline and spa, dulling the appearance of the tile and taking away from the overall look of the pool.
Tim used our low-pressure Kieserite blasting process to remove the stubborn calcium deposits from the pool tile, hot tub, and spillway, revealing the original tile underneath.
The job itself was fairly straightforward—but the transformation was anything but. The finished tile looked dramatically cleaner and brighter, with some of our favorite before-and-after results from an Oro Valley project.
Sometimes you don’t realize just how much calcium has changed the appearance of your pool until you see what was hiding underneath it.

Honeybee Canyon Natural Rock Beauty
Honeybee Canyon, Oro Valley, Az
This beautiful Honeybee Canyon property in Oro Valley presented a project that went well beyond a standard pool waterline cleaning. The pool featured approximately 100 linear feet of rustic blue tile, a natural rock hot tub spillway, waterline boulders, and a tiled cascade backsplash—all surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert.
Years of hard-water exposure had left visible mineral and calcium buildup across the pool and spa tile, as well as the natural rocks and boulders surrounding the waterline and spillway. Tim carefully cleaned the tile and natural rock surfaces, removing the accumulated hard-water deposits and bringing the original colors and character of these beautiful materials back into view.
Once the cleaning was complete, we sealed the pool and spa waterline tile as well as the cascade backsplash, providing an added layer of protection and helping the freshly cleaned surfaces stay looking their best longer.
This property also presented a unique logistical challenge. The luxury backyard and pool area were located a significant distance from where our blasting equipment could be positioned, making access much more difficult than a typical residential project. With careful planning and an extended hose run, Tim was able to make it work and complete the entire project without compromising the quality of the cleaning.
The finished result was a dramatic refresh of the entire waterline—the rustic blue tile was restored, the natural rock and boulders were free of unsightly hard-water buildup, and the pool’s beautiful architectural details could once again take center stage.
